Relation to the myth of Persephone and Demeter

The link below is a song by Sam Cooke that I thought related to Eros, son of Aphrodite. I know that Eros isn't cupid, but the relation connects that Eros shot the arrow that made Hades in love with Persephone. Or, you could look at this song from Hades' point of view. This being that he wants Eros to shoot him with an arrow so he can fall in love with Persephone. (Just try to get a mental image of Eros actually drawing back his arrow to shoot at Hades.)

  1. The song just shows that cupid can make love happen and the singer wants cupid to make the woman he loves fall in love with him. He refers to the ancient mythology about the bow and arrow of love. Maybe it could be from the view of Hades but I doubt it because he didn't exactly want to fall in love with Persephone. It was more like Eros and Aphrodite decided they should fall in love so he shot him and therefore Hades fell in love with Persephone. "Cupid draw back your bow, let your arrow fly straight to my lover's heart."

  3. I think this video is more in the point of view of Hades. I think this song could definitely be related to Hades wanting Eros to shoot him. I don't see it being related to Eros as much as I see it relating to Hades.

  4. This song tells how Eros can make people fall in love. It seems that from Hades point of view he wants to get shot by Eros. The song says " draw back your bow and shoot me with your love arrow. Hades might want to love Persephone and experience love for himself. Also he could be lonely and wants someone to love.
